Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for teaching adult education classes using instructional methods geared towards the adult learner in a classroom setting Plan lessons and curriculum based on the learning needs of culturally diverse and multi-skill level students which prepare students to pass the high school equivalency tests and/or enhance basic education skills Delivers whole group, small group, and individualized instruction to students, using a variety of instructional methods, materials, and techniques Create a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students Assure that students who qualify are pre- and post-tested as needed using the TABE 11 and 12 Assessment as dictated by DRC and Adult Education guidelines Keep daily attendance records and progress reports Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date records Conduct preliminary interviews to determine a student's eligibility for the High School Equivalency Program (HEP) grant & refer to the HEP Program Lead if the student is eligible to be certified Maintain all HEP paperwork and ensure each qualified HEP student completes the criteria for the program Participate and manage registration, testing, and scheduling events Establish a positive and trusting relationship with students Foster student accountability, self-advocacy, self-awareness, and critical thinking skills Adhere to regulations set forth regarding confidentiality of student records Promote participation of students in all aspects of Adult Education programming Maintain clean and professional classroom environment Required Education:
o An Associate degree or higher Strong communication skills, including both written and oral, with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of personalities Preferred Education:
o A Bachelor's degree Three (3) years teaching experience NOTE:
This position is a grant funded position, and the continuation of the position is dependent upon funding availability.
Continuation is based on the program meeting state and federal benchmarks.
Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
