Duties and
Responsibilities:
Act as the initial contact for collecting all pertinent demographic and insurance information Input all patient demographics, admission, insurance information and supporting admissions documents into electronic health/medical record Follow-up with counseling and medical staff as needed Articulate relevant clinical information to utilization review and billing departments.
Document all relevant financial and funding information in client electronic medical record Maintain professional working relationships with managed care companies Complete online and telephonic funding verification/eligibility for all insurance payers Excellent time-management is required.
Qualifications:
A minimum of one year of experience with admissions and insurance verification Experience working with Louisiana payers is highly preferred.
Must possess a valid driver's license Must have a general understanding of an insurance benefit breakdowns and patient responsibility Must understand primary, secondary and tertiary insurance guidelines On-going training on cultural awareness and demonstration of sensitivity to various cultural norms and values.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability Strong verbal skills and ability to communicate abstract concepts in a simple format.
Ability to communicate with a variety of people from diverse cultures, socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
Flexibility to meet a variety of changing priorities.
Computer skills to draft emails, memos, and reporting.
